One of the first leaders of ShadowMist, Fredrik was appointed to rule in Jendarial's place in the early years of ShadowMist. He refused the title of "Monarch" and called himself "Lord Protector". He held the throne for a year until word reached him that Jendarial was lost in a landslide and presumed dead. He then handed the crown over to Aislinn nic Fhearchair.

When Aislinn left the throne, Fredrik and Aislinn went on a tour of the realms, visiting various kingdoms. Their ship was lost for some time and when they finally returned, they announced their intention to marry. They were married in a self officiated wedding at the coronation of Talon Truthseaker.

No one really knows where Fredrik was born as he speaks little of it. He has told the story of how and why he joined the Order of St. Micheal. He was a child of nobility, who's only friend was a peasant child of a blacksmith. When the blacksmith was sent away and he and his family killed by bandits because, Fredrik recounced his titles and joined the abbey to become a warrior and a scholar. No one knows where this was, however as he has steadfastly refused to reveal the land of his birth.
