So you want to play with ShadowMist, but don’t know how to get
started? Here’s what you need to do, assuming you are not already equipped:
Go to the game schedule page and find out when the next game is going to be held. Then contact us and tell us you will be attending. This is important if the meeting gets canceled, so we can let you know. It also lets us put you on the mailing list.
Pick your character. Think about how you want to play. Make up a name for your character. If you want, make a history to explain your background. You may or may not have to opportunity to tell anyone this story, but it will help you to play that character. Note: One of the more common "newbie mistakes" is to walk up to people and start telling them your background, often in third person (as if talking about someone else.) Avoid this as it is not very entertaining nor very realistic. Let's face it, would you walk up to a total stranger and start spilling your life story?

Go to the links page and look at the Garb Links. Follow these links to learn how to make your garb. There are some good lessons on these pages. The easiest way is to just make a simple tunic and trews. I recommend against using an old Halloween costume unless it was well made by someone who knew what they were doing. Most costumes will not last through one battle. If you have any problems, again, contact us.
If you want to fight, contact us about weapons. We have some loaner weapons, but they are limited. Weapons are easy to make, and they do not cost much either! Check out our weapon making page for details. Remember, all weapons must be checked every game for safety. It’s good to have a few spares in case your weapon has been dammaged recently. I also carry a “battle bag” with some basic repair supplies.

Register on the HFS in Chaos Web Site as a member of the Kingdom of ShadowMist. This is important as all our record keeping for experience and membership is done through this site.
Come out and enjoy the game!
